JV & JVI World Cup #2 – First SL of the Season

Sunday, January 22, 2012 began with sub-zero temperatures and with the icy conditions, competitors were pushed to their limits.  The tight course became skied off very early in the race.  Several of the more aggressive racers fell victim to the slick conditions in each of the two runs. First place finisher for the JV girls, Abigail Saks stated, “it was icy” and “my first run was better than my second.”  Congratulations Abigail for dominating the course.  Chase Paton, boys JV fourth place finisher, stated that he had to be really careful on the icy spots and because of the ice got late on several of the gates.

Congratulations to our first place finishers- JV boys: Thomas Poulin; JV girls:  Abigail Saks; JVI boys: John Graney; JVI girls: Claire Felton.

Great effort competitors and coaches.  Another successful race!

JV/JVI Racers – Off to a Great Start!

Saturday, January 14, 2012 proved to be cold and windy, but the racers prevailed.   Sophie Zachara, the JV first place finisher for the girls (who was kind enough to be interviewed) stated she “got late” during both runs mid-course.  This seemed to be a common theme amongst the competitors.  Many racers stated that the second run was much icier than the first.  The course rutted up in the second run, but thanks to the coaches’ help, the kids seemed to get high on the bottom of the course and handle the conditions smoothly.  It is amazing to see the skill levels change year over year.

Congratulations to our first place finishers JV boys: Nick Fraterrigo; JV girls: Sophie Zachara; JVI boys: John Graney, and JVI girls: Hillary Larson.  See the complete results at the JV team page.

Congratulations to all who competed.  Well done!
